John is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cape Town. He joined the Meikles Group in 1970. He was re-appointed Chairman of Meikles Limited in June 2011.
Company Secretary – Meikles Limited
Tabani was educated at Ellis Robins High School. After his College education he became a Public Prosecutor where he remained for over 10 years. With this experience he became a Legal Consultant and owned his own Company called Logford Consultants.
Tabani then changed his career path by becoming the General Manager of a trucking business called Easy Transport. In 2009 he joined the Government of National Unity at the office of the Prime Minister for resurgent development, where he continued for 5 years. In August 2014 he then joined Meikles Limited as the Company Secretary/Legal Advisor after consulting for the Group for several months.
Head of Treasury & Business Development – Meikles Limited
William is an emerging markets finance and operations executive with extensive experience in South America and sub-Saharan Africa. He started his career at Ernst and Young in New York; was an investment banker with Lazard covering Latin America from Buenos Aires, Argentina; and was CFO of a Sau Paulo, Brazil-based start-up that raised nearly US$ 50M in venture capital and became Latin America’s largest online gaming company with more than 25 million users. The year prior to joining Meikles Limited, he was CFO of an investment holding company in Angola active in the Petroleum and Telecommunications sectors, and has also led infrastructure and real estate projects in Namibia and Mozambique. He represents Zimbabwe in the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community for influential young world leaders.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University in New York, USA.
Managing Director – Meikles Hospitality (Private) Limited
Sebastien graduated from the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School in Australia with an Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management. He worked in a number of hotels overseas before returning to Zimbabwe in 1999 to run his own lodge and subsequent businesses.
Sebastien has worked in hospitality since the age of 16 equipping him with the right hospitality experience and knowledge to secure the future of Meikles Hospitality. He recently joined the group in September 2015 as the Managing Director of Meikles Hospitality (Private) Limited.
Managing Director – Tanganda Tea Company Limited
Tim comes from a farming background having owned 3 farms whose business was the production of Coffee, Tea, Avocadoes and Macadamias.
He was educated at Peterhouse School Zimbabwe. He has won several farming awards including the coveted Coffee Grower of the year award on numerous occasions. He has sat on the Boards of Zimbabwe Coffee Mill and the Coffee Growers Association of which he was the Chairman.
Tim has owned a consultancy business, advising in agriculture in such places as Papua New Guinea, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
He is currently the Managing Director of Tanganda Tea Company
Managing Director – Meikles Guard Services (Private) Limited
Kaz served in the Zimbabwe Republic Police for 31 years, retiring in 1999 at the rank of Assistant Commissioner. Whilst in the ZRP, he successfully completed a number of courses, including Human & Material Resources Management (ZIPAM) and Financial Management (ZIPAM).
On his retirement, Kaz joined MineTech Zimbabwe as Operations Manager. As Operations Manager of an international Demining and Security Company he oversaw a number of International contracts. Kaz joined the Meikles Board in December 2009. He is also currently a Director of Meikles Guard Services.
Managing Director – Meikles Retail
Phil began his career in retail in 1990 when he joined Checkers in Richards Bay, South Africa. He then joined Makro in 1997 and became part of the management team. Thereafter he transferred to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe in 1999, where he took up the position as General Manager. He was promoted to Procurement / Operations Director of Makro, Zimbabwe in 2000 and he became an active board member until 2004. During 2007 – 2012 Phil ran 2 of his own businesses.
Phil has had vast experience in retail and wholesale businesses for 22 years and joined the Group in September 2013 as the Divisional Head of Meikles Mega Market, a new wholesale concept of the Group.
Managing Director – TM Supermarkets
Dharmalingum Dass, fondly referred to as “Dass”, has been in the retail industry for 38 years. He started his retail career as an invoice clerk in 1977 at Pick n Pay Hyper in Durban. He was then appointed a General Manager and subsidiary Board Director in 1990.
Dass then was appointed Managing Director of Pick n Pay Hypers in 2007. He was then transferred to the African Division as General Manager. Das ran the Pick n Pay Mauritius branch from 2012 to 2014. He then joined TM Supermarkets as Managing Director in September 2014.
